Well Womens' Clinic

Through its caring, patient-centered approach, our Clinic offers gender-related primary care services to women in a comfortable environment. Our Clinic provides exams to detect disease or infection including breast and pelvic exams and pap tests, as well as screening for sexually transmitted diseases. We also provide sound advice and assistance with family planning and menopause. This Clinic is always attended by a female physician. Visits are booked by appointment only with no referral required. Pregnant Care Clinic

Pregnancy can be a very exciting yet worrisome time in a woman’s life. A woman’s health and comfort and a caring obstetrician are the secrets to a happy pregnancy and positive birthing experience. Our clinic provides primary care to pregnant women including general pre-natal health care services such as check-ups, examinations and fetal growth monitoring. Our obstetricians also offer sound advice, education and assistance to expectant mothers. We advise expectant mothers to book visits to our Pregnant Care Clinic on a regular basis to allow our obstetricians to keep a close watch on both mom and baby’s health. The following frequency of visits is recommended: On a monthly basis for the first 28 weeks of pregnancy Bi-weekly from weeks 28 – 35 Weekly from week 36 to delivery Ultrasounds are provided at 18 weeks and 30 weeks of pregnancy. You are welcome to bring your partner, family or friends along for support and to share the special experiences that come with pregnancy. Well Babies’ Clinic

Welcoming a new baby into your world is both exciting and overwhelming. You want to know that your baby is healthy, growing and developing properly. Our clinic provides assessments for baby’s general health, fitness level, growth and development at each important growth stage. Preventative care for baby is key – examinations can show warning signs of disease or infections so regular visits are extremely important. Our physicians offer sound advice, education and assistance for parents on nutrition, breast feeding, general infant care and immunizations and any other areas that parents may require additional support. We also provide special care for moms with post-natal health and wellness monitoring, care and assistance. Youth Health Clinic

As children transition into adults, their health and wellness needs may change. Our clinic offers a caring environment where youth can feel comfortable talking to their family physician about any physical or emotional health or wellness concerns. We provide primary care services to youth including general health check-ups, clinical tests and treatments, and immunizations. Our clinic also offers sound advice and assistance with issues affecting wellness. Diabetics' Clinic

Athletics’ Health Clinic

Athletes are often at increased risk for injury and specific health issues. Understanding how to prevent these and the proper care and management of past or existing conditions is the key to a healthy, active and athletic lifestyle. We offer health care services to athletes with existing conditions or injuries and those at risk, including examinations and assessments of past or current injuries or conditions to bones, muscles and joints and rehabilitation support. Our Clinic provides advice and assistance for preventive measures and works with you to develop specific programs for a healthy, active lifestyle. Referrals to other specialists, such as physiotherapists and podiatrists will be provided as required. Mental Health Clinic

One in every five Canadians will be affected negatively by mental health issue at some point in their lives. Our family physicians are committed to ensuring all patients maintain good mental health and helping patients with existing mental health issues and their families to cope. If your mental health and wellness needs reach outside the scope of primary care services, we will refer you to the appropriate on-site mental health professional, as the mental health field is divided primarily into two distinct disciples: Psychiatry is the branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental and emotional disorders. Psychiatry is under the care of a medical doctor who can make assessments and prescribe medication for specific mental disorders. Appointments with the psychiatrist require a referral from your family physician. The psychiatrist will provide reports back to your family physician after each appointment. This psychiatry service is covered by MSI. Psychology is the science dealing with the mind and mental processes, especially in relation to human behavior. It involves therapeutic counseling for stress, anxiety and mental health issues that have not been proven to be improved with medication. Seasonal Flu Clinic

According to Health Canada, an estimated 4,000 to 8,000 Canadians, mostly seniors, die every year from pneumonia related to flu and many others may die from other serious complications of flu. A Flu shot is an easy way to protect yourself. We recommend you get a Flu shot in October of each year, as Flu season typically runs from November to April. Flu shots are strongly recommended for infants (6 to 23 months), pregnant women, seniors, and people with chronic heart and lung diseases. The Flu shot is free for these Nova Scotia residents who are most at risk for complications from the flu, and for health care workers, police officers and firefighters. Optometry Clinic

Your vision is important and preventative eye health is key. Through our Optometry Clinic we provide an evaluation of your vision and help you to achieve the best possible vision by offering recommendations for vision improvement. Eye exams go beyond vision evaluation – they can actually assist in indicating signs of serious diseases such as glaucoma, choroidal melanoma and diabetes. Everyone should have an eye exam. After an initial exam, our Opthalmologist will schedule appointments based on your own unique vision or medical history and requirements. Foot Care Clinic

On average in your lifetime you will walk more than 100,000 miles on your feet. It is important you take good care of what gets you around. Our Foot Care Clinic helps patients maintain strong healthy feet and assists those with existing foot problems. We provide assessments, monitoring and management for issues such as poor circulation and nerve damage, and treatment of external foot problems such as warts, corns, calluses and bunions. Travellers' Health Clinic

When travelling to different parts of the world, you can be at risk of contracting various diseases. Immunization can protect you from illness and ensure a positive and enjoyable travel experience. Our physicians will recommend the appropriate immunizations and/or medications based on your destination and travel plans and offer advice to help you stay healthy and safe. We recommend you visit our Clinic at least four to six weeks before your trip. You must allow time for any vaccinations to take effect. If you are travelling in less than four weeks, it is still important to visit us for any vaccines or medication that can assist in preventing illness while traveling.
