Mental Health Clinic
One in every five Canadians will be affected negatively by mental health issue at some point in their lives. Our family physicians are committed to ensuring all patients maintain good mental health and helping patients with existing mental health issues and their families to cope. If your mental health and wellness needs reach outside the scope of primary care services, we will refer you to the appropriate on-site mental health professional, as the mental health field is divided primarily into two distinct disciples:
- Psychiatry is the branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental and emotional disorders. Psychiatry is under the care of a medical doctor who can make assessments and prescribe medication for specific mental disorders.
Appointments with the psychiatrist require a referral from your family physician. The psychiatrist will provide reports back to your family physician after each appointment.
This psychiatry service is covered by MSI.
- Psychology is the science dealing with the mind and mental processes, especially in relation to human behavior. It involves therapeutic counseling for stress, anxiety and mental health issues that have not been proven to be improved with medication.
Montebello Medical offers:
- Individual, couples and group therapy
- Personal / life coaching
- Group workshops
No referral is required, unless the service is to be covered with your private insurance plan. This service is not covered by MSI.
These primary care services are provided to patients of Montebello Medical by family physicians. Visits are booked by appointment only.
